Food Service Assistant
This is a seasonal part time job with the opportunity to develop into a year round part time job.
It’s expected this position will average 15 hours a week. Regular hours starting in June 2022 with the possibility of some weekend training in May. CRC’s summer season ends in the middle of August 2022.
Job Description:
Eating together around the table are some of the best moments of summer camp. One of the goals of the Food Service Assistant is to help create an atmosphere where people are welcomed to enter into the dining hall to enjoy the food before them but to also enjoy the person to their left and to their right. Sharing meals at camp is a huge part of CRC’s ministry where we hope to cultivate good conversations between staff and campers so that we can encourage each other to walk in obedience to Jesus as Lord.
Other goals include the Food Service Assistant coming alongside the Food Service Director to help shoulder the work load during CRC’s summer programs. Once trained and acclimated to CRC’s kitchen and culture this person will be able to lead a team of staff and volunteers for a meal or part of a day in the absence of the Food Service Director.
This person should be:
-Comfortable working in a commercial kitchen.
-Comfortable providing and serving meals for large quantities of people.
-Able to stand on their feet for multiple hours at a time.
-Able to regularly lift items of approximately 25lbs.
-Able to maintain a clean working environment.
-Able to work well with other staff and camp volunteers.
-Able to be kind to summer camp staff and summer campers.
Responsibilities include, but is not limited to:
-Preparing meals for summer programs.
-Having knowledge on common food allergies such as gluten and dairy free.
-Knowledge of Serve Safe standards.
-Maintaining inventory of food and kitchen supplies.
-Maintaining good time management to ensure food is ready to be served at the appropriate time.
